ASIC and Anglicare NT bring financial regulators and sector leaders to Darwin
Last week Anglicare NT hosted a forum with Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and were lucky to have the ASIC Commissioner Alan Kirkland attend as a guest speaker. Alan talked about why it’s important for government and community stakeholders to work together on local issues. We agree!
“We’re excited to partner with Anglicare NT’s financial counselling team to host the Darwin Financial Inclusion Forum” he said.
A forum about regulating together for fairness
The theme of the forum was working together, and we wanted to bring together regulators who, like us, work to create a fairer, more inclusive society.
Massive thank you to all the guest speakers and people who attended the forum. It was a unique opportunity to gather regulators in the same place, identify NT issues and workshop how we can achieve fairer business practices.
Large group of interested parties involved
This was the first forum of its kind in the NT which has brought together NT Consumer Affairs, Reserve Bank of Australia, Australian Financial Complaints Authority, Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, Australian Financial Security Authority, Beyond Blue, Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, Financial Counsellors Association SA & NT and the ATO with financial counsellors and consumer rights advocates.
More forums of this kind in the future
When we asked if there was interest in another forum in 12 months’ time, the support was clear – so watch this space!
Thanks to Duncan Poulson and ASIC for all their hard work to help make the forum happen.
