Michelle McColm
Michelle McColm is a Darwin-born Aboriginal woman with family ties to the Kimberley region of Western Australia. She has a strong background and extensive experience in education, health, community development and mental health, dedicating her career to fostering positive change and supporting communities. Michelle holds a Master of Education and a Graduate Certificate in Public Sector Management and has worked across urban and remote communities in the Northern Territory, as well as spending a year on the north coast of New South Wales.
Her professional journey began in educational settings, with a focus on early childhood development, accessibility and inclusion. This work sparked a deep passion for community development and supporting Aboriginal-led decision making, with an emphasis on culturally safe practices and amplifying the voices of Aboriginal people. Her experience spans policy development, community advocacy and program implementation, equipping her to build consensus and cultivate meaningful partnerships.
Michelle is dedicated to amplifying the perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, ensuring these voices shape policy and programs to benefit children and families. She prioritises culturally grounded communication, fosters collaboration on key initiatives and strives to achieve outcomes that resonate deeply with the needs and rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
